BUYING A HOME? Consider getting an ELECTRICAL INSPECTION completed on the home you are considering purchasing. It can even be put in the conditions of the off-to-purchase. Ask your Realtor or the home owner (for private sales) when the electrical system inspection was last completed? You may be surprised that one was never done! Over the years, the reliability of your home's electrical system can degrade greatly! Certain components can expire, others can wear out and not function properly. Most people don't realize how their home's electrical system can age overtime. Call the Excellent Electricians™ to have additional outlets installed for space heater use. HEATING SEASON WILL SOON BE HERE. Here's some SAFETY tips this heating season: 1. Plug space heaters directly into a wall outlet. Do not use an extension cord or power strip, which could overheat and result in a fire. 2. Do not plug any other electrical devices into the same outlet as the heater. 3. Never leave a space heater unattended. Turn it off when you're leaving a room or going to sleep, and don't let pets or children play too close to a space heater. 4. Install smoke alarms on every floor of your home and outside all sleeping areas and test them once a month. 5. Proper placement of space heaters is critical. Heaters must be kept at least three feet away from anything that can burn, including papers, clothing and rugs. WOW!! LIGHTNING IS POWERFUL & DANGEROUS!! BUT...it can cost you. What Can You Afford To Lose? Appliances, Technology, Audio Visual, Safety & Security? It's not just about your TV!! Did you know that 40% of all computer crashes and data loss come from power surges. What is a power surge? It's a sudden and unwanted increase in voltage that can damage, degrade or destroy sensitive electronic equipment in your home or business. A spike in voltage can be harmful to electrical devices in your home if the increase is above the device's intended operating voltage. This excess voltage can cause an arc of electrical current resulting in heat that damages electrical components. Repeated small scale surges may slowly damage your electronic equipment and shorten the lie of appliances and electronics.
